Our canvas jackets are the logical companion to our trouser range. Crafted from the same C-Canvas as our Supertrousers and lined with polyester microfibre fleece, this jacket will protect you from the elements but with way more durability than your average down or waterproof/breathable garment. This makes it a favourite in demanding industries like forestry, building and construction. Due to the heavy fabrics used for longevity and protection, we've darted the arms and gusseted the back of the shoulders so there's no loss of flexibility. The Collared Jacket has the same shell, same lining, same rugged toughness, just without the cranial protection of the Hooded Jacket.

We've stepped it up a notch in the fleece department. We've not only got the most simple, trusty Fleece you could want, but now we've introduced an extreme, heavy-duty, work specific fleece jacket. It's ideal for when your Down Jacket is just too much but you need more than just your merino.
This jacket hasn't happened over night - it's a result of customer requests, rigorous testing and some well thought out designing.
It's called the Windpro Jacket for a reason. It's made from Wind Shield fleece to withstand those nasty cold winds. The blurb on the packet says it's 3 times more wind resistant than traditional fleece, greatly reduces windchill, provides warmth without the weight, it's extremely breathable and does not retain perspiration.
Because we never do things by halves, we've also added a tough windproof polyester/cotton reinforcing fabric on the front, shoulders and arms – ideal for when you've got the 4x2 on your shoulder or when you're grovelling around on your elbows. Did we mention the chest pockets? Yep - there are two. One has a top opening with a flap, and is positioned for keeping your note pad and pen handy. The second is a sneaky side-zipped number on the other side.
Add in some deep fleece-lined hand pockets, positioned high and out of the way of pack or tool belts, and we reckon you've got quite an awesome warm, durable functional garment. Enjoy!
Made in New Zealand and like all of our products, comes with a lifetime warranty on materials and workpersonship.

Hangdog Shorts are a reinvention of our classic Hangdog climbing shorts from the 90s. Only nowadays they've been revamped to suit to a more holistic, lifestyle-based approach to recreating outdoors.
Hangdog Shorts are made from a soft but durable polycotton drill fabric that also has a wee bit of mechanical stretch. We've rigorously wear-tested these by spending heaps of time out biking and climbing in the Port Hills. Product development can be a hard job eh, but someone's gotta do it! We've come to the firm conclusion that Hangdogs are the ultimate go-to shorts for doing good, active stuff outdoors, and they don't leave you feeling like a dork at the cafe or bbq afterwards.

Cactus's answer to 'softer' shorts. These have been through some rigorous wear testing and we have come to the firm conclusion that they are the ultimate summer go-to shorts for biking, tramping and heading to the beach.
The SOS's are the shorts version of our SOS Trousers. The same cut and fit, only shorter.
They're made from a lighter, polycotton drill fabric, which has mechanical stretch and is super durable - and our idea of durable is based on the Cactus Supershorts so we don't make that claim lightly.
Great features like quick drying fabric and mesh pockets, ideal for water drainage post jetty jumping. Triple stitched crotch. YKK zip and of course they come with our lifetime warranty on faulty materials and workpersonship.
Available in any colour, as long as it's slimming black.
Made right here in NZ.
Please note: In June 2020, the fit of the SOS was changed. Please check your size against the size chart if you are re-purchasing.
If the size you want is not showing, we are probably out of stock. Email or call us on 0800 122 682 to find out when they will be here or to place a backorder.

Just when you thought you couldn't get anything better than merino for outdoor work or play... we bring you Cactus merino!
So what's so blimin good about it? In a nutshell:
The secret is in how the fibres are held together. Traditionally, fibres are twisted together for strength but in the process, the ends poke out, giving materials like wool their characteristic of the itchy Grandmas home knitted jersey feel.
Like wringing out a cloth, air pockets are squeezed out too. Cactus Merino on the other hand, lays the fibres along the same orientation as the rest of the yarn, so fabrics feel more comfortable. Because more of the insulating air is retained, Cactus merino materials are warmer and loftier than ring spun materials.

Tired of waterproof breathable jackets that wear out? The Cactus Mountain jacket is for you. Built in ultra tough 3 layer WTF-3 fabric, with real exterior pockets and no bogus lighter-weight pocket linings that leak, this heavy duty jacket will protect you from the elements with way more durability than your average cut-price waterproof/breathable garment.
Here's what our testers thought of it: "I thought the fit of the jacket is spot on. The storm flap definitely did the job of keeping snow out of the pocket - even when I forgot to zip it up I didn't loose any goodies from the pocket. I really like having no hip pockets, as there is nothing to hinder and bunch up when bending at the hip. The pockets were sufficient for carrying all the stuff I needed for ski patrolling. Another feature I thought was pretty tiptop is the foldaway collar, it works nicely when snow is blowing everywhere."
"I was surprised at how well this thing breathes given how burly the fabric is. I never got hot skiing in it, and it’s obviously gonna last forever. Had a couple of stormy days in it on the mountain, it was totally wind and snow proof and the fabric didn’t soak, so it stayed supple yet bombproof in nasty weather."

- Two external zip access chest pockets - no leak points into the garment
- Foldaway hood domes away into fleece-lined tall collar

Down vests or puffer vests are a 'must have' for New Zealand winters and without the arms, they're great for autumn and spring too. Good down jackets are never cheap so when you buy one you want it to last. This is why we thought that we should take on the challenge to make a tougher down vest for those working and playing hard in the outdoors. And we did - super tough vests that stand up to gorse, firewood stacking, brushing past old farm gear and the likes.
In true NZ made style, we're always looking for ways to make our gear even better and our 2020 design tweaks do just that. Strengthened in all the places we do repairs and taking on board customer feedback, the latest evolution of the Cactus Down Vest features a grunty two way zipper, extra strengthening around pockets, a removable hood, a few more 'Michelin man' rolls, improved water repelling super powers rolls and so much more.
- 100% nylon two layer waterproof outer
- Adjustable and removable zip-off hood
- Extra strong main zipper with two way slider
- 750-loft white goose down. Ethically and responsibly sourced
- DWR treated down - this means when it's raining the down itself is water repellent, anti-clumping and carries on doing it's job to keep you warm and insulated
- Nylon taffeta lining with extra internal reinforcing on the lower back to avoid wear and tear around your 'seat'
- Two internal chest pockets, two external (fleece lined) hand pockets
- Fleece lined neck

Outer: Waterproof two layer nylon
