Ingredients
- Coconut oil
- Plant oil
- Beeswax
- Carnauba wax
-
Country / Region of manufacture: New Zealand
Applying the Bees Wax Bar
- Make sure your pants/jacket/pack is clean & dry
- Run the bar back and forth over the surface (this creates a friction for the wax to loosen). Get a good even spread of the wax across the surface.
- HEAT the wax into the surface using: a) A heat gun, b) A hair dryer on a HIGH setting, c) An iron set to a LOW SYNTHETIC setting
- You'll know it's worked when the wax is not white & sticky to touch. Re-apply heat until it is not longer white & sticky to touch - that's when you know it's been cured into the fabric and it's waterproof again.
- Leave overnight to dry and cure.

After some careful in house product testing. The team at Cactus give our mates over at Crafty Weka the big tick of approval.
So much so, that we decided to sell them!
Here's what the Crafty Weka team have to say about their bars:
"Whatever your choice of recreational activities our Crafty Weka Bar has been designed to satisfy your appetite between meals, and exercise. We have carefully adjusted the amounts of each ingredient for easier digestion and optimum taste.
Crafty Weka Bars are packed with peanuts, oats and nutrient rich seeds, have a good blend of low, medium and high GI carbohydrates for sustained energy; sesame seeds for calcium and vital minerals including selenium. Pumpkin seeds to give you B vitamins for energy; sunflower seeds for vitamin E and a wide range of other nutrients.
We use only natural sugars, fruit, coconut sugar and use honey as the main sweetener. This provides fast-acting glucose for get-up-and-go, and slower absorbed fructose for improved performance. Honey is also a natural preservative which keeps your Crafty Weka Bar at peak freshness."

32 years ago when we started Cactus, we just did what came naturally. Since then we've realised that (doh!) actually thinking about the things one does is pretty useful.
We're pretty certain that, had we introduced our new "Thinking Cap" back in the day, we'd be rolling in cash and sunning ourselves right now on the beaches of Ibiza. Suffice it to say, the Thinking Cap is only new, and we're still firmly ensconced here in NZ.
But if you want to fast-forward your life goals, achieve your ambitions and avoid sunburn as an added bonus. Have at it.

-
Fabric: Proofed 12oz Premium C-Canvas
- Essentially, Canvas Supertrousers and Supershorts require a bit of a wear-in period to soften the fabric.
- The first three or so washes should be done by hand, then you should be right to machine wash.
- Use cold water with a mild powder detergent, rinse thoroughly, very gentle or no spin and line-dry.
-
Do not iron, dry clean, spin-dry or use bleach.
- When new, the stiffness of the fabric means it creases in points rather than soft folds - washing them in an aggressive or hot machine can cause damage on the crease points.
-
Our canvas also has a waterproofing agent which, if washed in an aggressive or hot machine, can shift and discolour. This will appear as white lines which cannot be removed.
-
Washing inside out will minimise lighter coloured creases on the outside of the fabric, but won’t remove stains quite as well.
- Drip dry without creases (it won't take long as the polyester in the fabric doesn't hold much water)
- Close zips while washing (they'll last longer)
- Note that all the colours will lighten with use and washing as the natural cotton content of the fabric won't take a dye fixative in the same way as a 100% synthetic fabric.
- If you get attacked by a pig and the fabric gets holed while saving your reproductive potential send them back and we'll patch ‘em for a small fee
- If you are still not sure, give us a call or flick us an email
This sizing chart shows our standard Supertrouser leg lengths for reference.

Cactus Face Mask Filters
We are constantly iterating on our products at Cactus. Following customer feedback, we have designed a new Cactus facemask that's washable, with replaceable filters.
Replaceable filter pack:
- 5 filters in a pack
- The wool-filter is designed to be more than twice as easy to breathe through than standard masks.
- The filter media filters 99% of particles down to 0.3 microns in size - for reference, to meet N95 standard, a filter must block 95% of these particles.
- Made in NZ.
IMPORTANT:
- As mentioned above, the filter is tested in-house to P2/N95 levels.
- Do not wash the filter. The face mask is washable, but without the filter. Check care tab for further information.
- Check the care tab above for when to replace your filter.
- Wearing the mask cannot fully remove the risk of infection or contracting a disease.
- Due to Filters & Face Masks being a sanitary product, we cannot accept them for return, refund or exchange for any reason. We recognise this is quite different from the regular Cactus stance on returns/refunds/exchanges but unfortunately the nature of this product gives us no other option.
- Stop using the mask immediately if breathing becomes difficult.
- This Face Mask is a consumer product. It is not a respirator. It is not a medical device. It is not PPE.
- This filter works by trapping particles and micro-organisms in the fine filter threads. As such, over time it will need replacing. We would recommend filters being replaced (and the mask itself being washed) every month for normal use and more regularly for heavy use).
Care Removing the Filter:
As with any mask used to filter out germs and viruses, care needs to be taken when removing the mask and the filter. Make sure you wash your hands thoroughly after touching the mask or filter.
Taking Care of your Mask & Filter:
- Store below 30 degrees in a dry place. Keep separately in a sealed bag.
Washing:
- The filter cannot be washed. To wash the filter makes it less effective.
- Remove and dispose of your filter before washing mask.
Lifetime of your Filter:
This filter works by trapping particles and micro-organisms in the fine filter threads. As such, over time it will need replacing. We would recommend filters being replaced (and the mask itself being washed) every month for normal use and more regularly for heavy use).
Replacing your Filter
If you are removing the filter from your mask, we recommend disposing of it and replacing it.
The wool, fluffy side of the filter is to face away from you (face down when you insert it into the mask.
This video shows you how to replace the Filter:
Packaging:
For hygiene purposes, we’ve had to package these Mask Filters in a plastic bag. We’re not fond of this solution and will be looking for other methods, but in the meantime, let’s find as many ways as we can to ensure this bag is not single use.
These little wonders are working their way into numerous applications throughout our product range. Easy and quick to use, they allow us to eliminate in many places those potentially breakable plastic buckles. Thus hopefully your pack will have a longer service life and we feel a bit better about using raw materials!
We've decided to put them on our website as an accessory - primarily because if you do break a plastic 25mm buckle, often you can replace it with a Grippin on the male side and cut the female buckle off, leaving the webbing loop to be the receiving part for the hook.
If you do it's a good idea to put a double fold in the end of the webbing the buckle slides on - otherwise it can potentially come off... The image is a right hand buckle. i.e., We call a Grippin buckle right-hand if you were wearing it is one that you would hold on to with your right hand when hooking it into the webbing of a belt. A left-hand one would be used with your left hand. The other way to think about it is that the S in Cactus starts is over the hook in a right-hand buckle.

We call a Grippin buckle righthand if you were wearing it is one that you would hold on to with your right hand when hooking it into the webbing of a belt. A lefthand one would be used with your left hand. The other way to think about it is that the S in Cactus starts is over the hook in a righthand buckle.
The Cactus Washable Face Mask
We are constantly iterating on our products at Cactus. Following customer feedback, we have designed a new Cactus Face Mask that's washable, with replaceable filters (while doing our best to keep all of the goodness from our previous mask).
This Face Mask in a nutshell:
- The woven wool-filter is designed to be more than twice as easy to breathe through than standard masks.
- The filter media used in the mask filters 99% of particles down to 0.3 microns in size - for reference, to meet N95 standard, a filter must block 95% of these particles.
- We've designed it to seal snugly around the face for superior protection with an adjustable nose-wire to form a protective seal.
- Made in NZ - 100% cotton outer and a NZ wool-filter.
IMPORTANT:
- As mentioned above, the filter is tested in-house to P2/N95 levels.
- This face mask is washable but the filter must be removed (check care tab for further information).
- This face mask comes with one filter inside it, and replaceable filter packs are available for purchase.
- Check the care tab above for when to replace your filter.
- Wearing the mask cannot fully remove the risk of infection or contracting a disease.
- Due to face masks being a sanitary product, we cannot accept them for return, refund or exchange for any reason.
Background:
Cactus have teamed up with Lanaco to create a highly efficient, portable Face Mask. We’ve placed Lanaco’s HELIX® woven Filter Media - an innovative natural wool filter - into a soft cotton outer. And voila, filtration that blocks harmful particles, pollution, bacteria and virus. The HELIX®Filter Media, scientifically tested within an inch of its life, proves kiwi sheep have got the goods to protect their two legged friends. In fact it’s so good, NASA are currently testing it to protect their space team.
Care Removing the Mask:
As with any mask used to filter out germs and viruses, care needs to be taken when removing the mask. Make sure you wash your hands thoroughly after touching the mask.
Taking Care of your Mask:
- Store below 30 degrees in a dry place. Keep separately in a sealed bag.
Washing your Mask:
- Remove and dispose of your filter before washing mask. (Washing the filter makes it less effective.)
- Warm gentle machine wash, not above 30 degrees celcius.
- Do not tumble dry. Do not iron. Do not bleach.
Lifetime of your Filter:
This filter works by trapping particles and micro-organisms in the fine filter threads. As such, over time it will need replacing. We would recommend filters being replaced (and the mask itself being washed) every month for normal use and more regularly for heavy use)
Replacing your Filter
If you are removing the filter from your mask, we recommend disposing of it and replacing it.
The mask comes with one filter, and we have filter packs of 5 available to purchase.
The wool, fluffy side of the filter is to face away from you (face down when you insert it into the mask.
This video shows you how to replace the Filter:
Packaging:
For hygiene purposes, we’ve had to package these Face Masks in a plastic bag. We’re not fond of this solution and will be looking for other methods, but in the meantime, let’s find as many ways as we can to ensure this bag is not single use.
NOTE: Our masks are a standard one-size-fits-most. However, due to everybody's face shape being different, we cannot assume it will fit absolutely everyone. Feedback suggests our masks don't work as well on people with beards or large chins.
Fitting your Cactus Face Mask
- Insert the filter
- Place the face mask to your face
- Pull the elastic to a point that it is comfortable but snug (the better the seal on your face, the more effective the mask is)
- Tie a knot in the elastic

MEASURING YOUR FEET
If you are unsure of the size you normally wear in any of those 'Sizing Types', then measuring your feet length will provide a guide as to what size footwear you need to order.
Following the simple guide below, measure 'both feet'. You will most likely find one foot is slightly longer than the other, which is quite normal. Then find your boot size on the Wide Load Size Chart by comparing your foot measurement.
Please be aware that most Wide Load customers have always over compensated in other work boot brands to find extra width. Knowing Wide Load is much wider than traditional brands you may need to consider going back down to your size for the length of your foot.
• You'll need a large piece of paper
• Stand with your heel against a flat wall
• Mark the longest distance from your heel to the tip of your toe, then measure it
We're once again not reinventing the wheel here. A sock is a sock. But we did realise there was a bit of a gap in our range for a 'daily' type sock. Thinner than your average work sock but still warm and comfy. Good enough to wear... Daily.
For all you old school people out there who think they'll be too warm for summer, merino is not only super warm in the winter, it's also super breathable in the summer.
The Cactus socks come in black and in two sizes.
*When we say daily, we don't mean wear them everyday. We suggest changing your socks after use. Merino does have anti odour properties. But, they will probably stink after several days of wear without washing.

We all know that a sock is a sock. But this one is just 'Better'. We once claimed that the Mahi Sock is top of the range but after vigorous testing, this one comes in a couple of points up on the 'Better' scale. Chunky knit, perfect for both in the workboots, or on the couch in winter.
Merino is not only super warm in the winter, it's also super breathable in the summer. Cactus socks will keep your toes toasty warm, make your shoes more comfortable, last for ages and being merino - shouldn't stink.*

At Cactus, we've got your super warm work sock (The Mahi Sock), a tramping(ish) sock (The Better Sock) and some in between socks. But what we were missing was a lower cut "gym / running sock" so we called up our mates down at NZ Sock Company to see what they could come up with. We introduce the Cankle sock (Cactus-Ankle).
One of our office crew even wear tested a sample on a recent 24 hour endurance race and gave it the Cactus tick of approval.
Merino is not only super warm in the winter, it's also super breathable in the summer. Cactus socks will keep your toes toasty warm, make your shoes more comfortable, last for ages and being merino - shouldn't stink.*

Back when Cactus first started, Health and Safety wasn't really a thing.
Ben was an electrician back in the day and he doesn't remember ever seeing hard hats or high vis. Luckily times have changed and, in the spirit of embracing H&S, Cactus is excited to introduce another piece of Personal Protective Equipment: The Cactus Jandals*.
These bad boys will keep you safe and secure at the beach, barbie or on your summer road trip.
*these aren't considered suitable for workplace use. Unless, you work in an office or at the beach.
