Features

In Nepal, the Sherpa take on a myriad of tasks - guiding, carrying, cooking and cajoling Westerners on their journeys. When designing our new insulated jacket, these were the attributes we wanted to emulate.

Like every Cactus product, the Norbu (named after a guide during one of our Himalayan sojourns) is a simple, solid, subtle and utterly reliable product. We’ve always been about making good sh*t that lasts a long time and the Norbu is no different.

Using synthetic insulation means it is more tolerant to a bit of moisture - be it rain from the outside or sweat from within. As you’d expect, it sports legendary tough YKK zips and our proprietary “tough arse” reinforcement.

Most importantly, it was designed with our 30-plus years of engineering know-how, and all the long-lasting Cactus toughness that brings.

Fancy a hood to keep the noggin nice & warm? Check out our hooded version!

Debate settled

I always wanted a cactus down jacket, it's a no trainer and why wouldn't you? Because you could get a Norbu instead. So when the Norbu was released it threw me with which way to go. After several months of debating, weighing the pros and cons of each and trying each one on several times I'm stoked with my Norbu. Essentially it came down to not needing the amount of insulation the down jacket has. Both are smart looking, construction typically bombproof Cactus and the fit nailed on (for me anyway). So the tipping point was really me not wanting to feel like a Michelin man! Coming back from a week of 30⁰ to a typical southern spring I fully appreciated the snugness of my fresh new Norbu.
