ALL MEN'S CLOTHING

These canvas vests are the logical companion to our trouser range. Crafted from the same C-Canvas as our Supertrousers and lined with polyester microfibre fleece, this vest will protect you from the elements but with way more durability than your average waterproof/breathable garment.
Perfect for farming or outdoor work where you require movement with your arms or when a jacket is just too hot. Heavy fabrics used for longevity and protection, the Canvas Vest has the same shell, same lining, same rugged toughness as the Canvas Jackets, just without the arms.
- Proofed European 12oz C-Canvas is great to wear and will last for ages
- Made in New Zealand with first world environmental and labour values
- Wide shoulder covering to keep out the rain or handle the fence post loading
- Roomy fleece lined hand pockets for warmth or nails
- Casual styling which won't let you down in most social situations
- Bar-tacked at all stress points
- YKK zips because they're the best
- Fabric: Proofed European 12oz C-Canvas, C-M Fleece
- Weight: 700 grams
- Use mild detergent or pure soap (preferably one that's nice to the earth)
- Our canvas has a water resistant coating which can shift and discolour through the initial break in period
- For best results hand wash until the garment is broken in machine washing is fine after this
- Drip dry without creases (it won't take long as the polyester in the fabric doesn't hold much water)
- Close zips while washing (they'll last longer)
- If you get attacked by a pig and the fabric gets holed while saving your reproductive potential send it back and we'll patch it

Our canvas jackets are the logical companion to our trouser range. Crafted from the same C-Canvas as our Supertrousers and lined with polyester microfibre fleece, this jacket will protect you from the elements but with way more durability than your average down or waterproof/breathable garment. This makes it a favourite in demanding industries like forestry, building and construction. Due to the heavy fabrics used for longevity and protection, we've darted the arms and gusseted the back of the shoulders so there's no loss of flexibility. The Collared Jacket has the same shell, same lining, same rugged toughness, just without the cranial protection of the Hooded Jacket.
- Internal zip access chest pocket
- Gusseted shoulder construction and darted, giving great range of motion
- Proofed European 12oz C-Canvas is great to wear and will last for ages

Cactus Supertrousers might just be the world’s best general purpose trousers and they’re made right here in NZ. These trousers can handle a shortcut through the gorse, nailing up some framing, or fitting the chains on the access road. On the flip side they are just as sweet for waiting for your fix at the local coffee cart, stylin’ at a BBQ, or sitting in the office dreaming of better things. There are two types of people out there, those who love their Supertrousers, and those who haven’t bought any yet!
If these are a bit baggy for your liking, check out our slim-fit version – they're not your super skinny hipster jean; you can still build a house in them. If you're after some full-featured, work-specific trousers, Trade Supertrousers might be for you. If your legs run hot, check out our Supershorts.
If you are on the taller side, you may need to order our unhemmed Extra Long Supertrousers
For shorter inseams, add 'Hem Shorter' to your cart and specify a length in centimetres.
Supertrousers come in two fabric options. C-Canvas is the classic, hardwearing Cactus canvas. Premium C-Canvas is newer, just as hard wearing, but with a more comfortable finishing weave, so requires less breaking in time.
If the colour you select has 'Premium' in the name it's the new Premium C-Canvas, if it doesn't have 'Premium' in the name, it's the classic C-Canvas. Easy as.
- Exclusive 12oz C-Canvas and Premium C-Canvas are super durable and great to wear
- Made by happy people who’ll be even happier if you buy some
- Handle tricky manoeuvres with the articulated knee design
- Casual styling which can handle almost any social situation
- Clothing related embarrassing situations are minimised by YKK zips (because they’re the best) and bar-tacks at all stress points
- Construction backed by a lifetime warranty on materials and workpersonship
- Fabric: C-Canvas or Premium C-Canvas
- Weight: 780 grams (Medium)
- Essentially, Canvas Supertrousers and Supershorts require a bit of a wear-in period to soften the fabric.
- The first three or so washes should be done by hand, then you should be right to machine wash.
- Use cold water with a mild powder detergent, rinse thoroughly, very gentle or no spin and line-dry.
-
Do not iron, dry clean, spin-dry or use bleach.
- When new, the stiffness of the fabric means it creases in points rather than soft folds - washing them in an aggressive or hot machine can cause damage on the crease points.
-
Our canvas also has a waterproofing agent which, if washed in an aggressive or hot machine, can shift and discolour. This will appear as white lines which cannot be removed.
-
Washing inside out will minimise lighter coloured creases on the outside of the fabric, but won’t remove stains quite as well.
- Drip dry without creases (it won't take long as the polyester in the fabric doesn't hold much water)
- Close zips while washing (they'll last longer)
- Note that all the colours will lighten with use and washing as the natural cotton content of the fabric won't take a dye fixative in the same way as a 100% synthetic fabric.
- If you get attacked by a pig and the fabric gets holed while saving your reproductive potential send them back and we'll patch ‘em for a small fee
- If you are still not sure, give us a call or flick us an email

- The leg lengths of the standard Supertrousers fit 95% of people just fine, but for those of you who need them longer or shorter we can customise.

Due to popular demand we bring you Slim Fit Supertrousers. These will tuck into your gumboots easier, hook up less and are just as hardcore as your standard Supertrousers. Apart from the slimmer fit the only other difference to standard Supertrousers is a new waist band for added comfort. They also look really stylish around town ... and we're okay with that.
Antelope is the brown - classy, like your favourite high-cocoa chocolate. Olive is a subtle green. Black is black is black. All very serviceable colours. Note that all the colours will lighten with use and washing as the natural cotton content of the fabric won't take a dye fixative in the same way as a 100% synthetic fabric.
Our new Premium C-Canvas is just as hardwearing as the classic old Cactus canvas, but has a more comfortable finishing weave, so requires less breaking in time.

Our Trade Supertrouser is a kind of a hybrid lovechild of the ultra tough HD Dreadnought and super stylish Supertrousers with a little bit of Utility Vest thrown in for good measure. This makes the Trade Supertrousers a true, fully featured gear for those whose work demands tough pants and pockets.
Never reach for a tool that isn’t there with dedicated pockets for a cellphone, ruler, and punches or measuring tape and reinforced hammer loops stand out for easy use. Crouching with full pockets is no problem - the main pockets at the waist are external so the contents displace away from your body, and they are tough enough for a handful of nails or screws occasionally (nothing we can do about the hedgehog effect though). Two full size pockets at the back give you a place for that piece of paper with your hardware shop list and tax receipts.
If you’re worried about wearing out knees, on you or your trousers, the reinforced, padded knees of the Trade Plus Supertrousers will make your work easier. If you like to feel the breeze around your knees, check out our Trade Shorts.
- Super durable and highly wearable Ultra C-Canvas
- Your tools and other essentials are within reach with cellphone, ruler and measure pockets and two hammer loops
- For everything else roomy external main pockets are durable and easy to access
- Wide belt loops for utility belts
- The details that matter, bar tacked stress points and YKK zips
- Construction backed by a lifetime warranty on materials and workmanship
IMPORTANT: These come unhemmed so we can customise them to your leg length.

The Trade Supershorts are a true, fully featured work short for those who's work demands it. We've taken the Trade Supertrousers kept all the best bits and removed everything below the knee. Your essentials are all close at hand with dedicated pockets for a cellphone, ruler, and punches or measuring tape and a reinforced hammer loop that stands out for easy use. The large main pockets at the waist are external so the contents don’t get in the way so much when you crouch down. Those pockets are tough enough for a handful of nails or screws occasionally, but we’ve tried crouching down with screws in our pockets and it isn’t that pleasant. Two full size pockets at the back give you a place for the “can you just pick some stuff up from the supermarket on your way home” shopping list. The belt loops are wide enough to take a full width equipment belt.
Antelope, Black and Olive are all made from our new Ultra C-Canvas. The Gingernut Trade Supershorts are made from our classic C-Canvas.
Need tool carrying capacity but don’t think people want to see your legs? Our Trade Supertrousers and Trade Plus Supertrousers are for you. Don’t get to use a hammer much at work but love our shorts? Have a look at our Supershorts.

Supershorts - our original “free standing” shorts. Supershorts are constructed with our tough, comfortable C-Canvas. Not the cheapest material in the world but we’re yet to find a better material – its combination of durability and breathable comfort is what makes these shorts possible.
Antelope, Black and Olive are all made from our new Premium C-Canvas, a durabe 12oz canvas with a softer finish.
These will end up being possibly the most comfortable shorts you own - and they’ll stay that way for a long, long time; truly shorts that wear in, not out. If you need proof of the comfort and durability, James chose them for a 18,000km bicycle ride around the globe. We’ve got them framed up on the wall of fame here at Cactus HQ. Think a lighter weight pair might suit you better? Go and visit our SOS Supershorts. Don’t want to inflict your lower legs on innocent bystanders? Try our Supertrousers. Proudly made in NZ.
- Proofed 12oz C-Canvas or Premium C-Canvas for excellent wear-ability and unrivalled durability
- Perfectly balances on the smart/casual continuum
- When the going gets tough bar-tacked stress points hold it together
- YKK zip – smooth and strong
- Phone pocket
- We can custom hem to what ever length you like (for an extra $25) - just add 'Hem Shorter' to your cart
- Construction backed by a lifetime warranty on materials and workpersonship
- Weight: 530grams
- Fabric: C-Canvas or Premium C-Canvas

Going down on one knee might be a romantic gesture, but spending lots of your work day on your knees is less so, and can take it’s toll on your and your pants. That’s why we make the Trade Plus Supertrousers, a true fully-featured work pant in new Ultra C-Canvas with Kevlar-reinforced kneepads.
Crouch and engage with external main pockets at the waist - the contents displace away from your body. The pockets are tough enough to handle an occasional handful of nails or screws as well. Two full size pockets at the back give you a place for that bit of ply with the crucial measurements written on it and your pie money, and the belt loops are wide enough to take a full width equipment belt. We’ve also added ample dedicated pockets for a cellphone, ruler, and punches or measuring tape, and two reinforced hammer loops that stands out from your leg for easy use. We're confident those who need work pants this tough and this protective will really appreciate them.
Check out the Trade Supertrousers without the knee pad and our Trade Shorts too...

Down jackets or puffer jackets are a 'must have' for New Zealand winters. Good down jackets are never cheap so when you buy one you want it to last. This is why we thought that we should take on the challenge to make a tougher down jacket for those working and playing hard in the outdoors. And we did - super tough winter jackets that stand up to gorse, firewood stacking, brushing past old farm gear and the likes.
But why stop there ... you can't get much more heavy-duty than our C-Canvas Supertrousers – so how about a down jacket to match?
And here it is – the next-level tough, Cactus Canvas Down Jacket. This is not a lightweight, 'pop in your backpack for a day walk' number. This is your hefty, super-warm, super-tough, big, burly, mega down jacket for outdoor professionals who need a durable, warm and reliable down jacket.
In true NZ made style, we're always looking for ways to make our gear even better and our 2020 design tweaks do just that. Strengthened in all the places we do repairs and taking on board customer feedback, the latest evolution of the Cactus Canvas Down Jacket features a grunty two way zipper, extra strengthening around pockets, a removable hood, improved water repelling and so much more.

- Two internal chest pockets, one external chest pocket
